Green-certified Forest Management for the  Ammonoosuc Conservation Trust

Native Geographic helps the Ammonoosuc Conservation Trust manage a number of lands they own or hold easements on.   Their working and demonstration forests are green certified with the Forest Stewardship Council and Tree Farm; the Trust holds themselves and their collaborating foresters and loggers to a high standard of sustainable forest management.  In addition to preparing management plans, Native Geographic has worked with the Trust to implement a number of sustainable timber harvests and practices to enhance forest health and wildlife habitat.

Strategic Conservation Planning with the Stowe Land Trust

IN 2010, Native Geographic helped identify a critical Wildlife Road Crossing between the Northern Green Mountains and Worcester range (click image for more details) of Vermont. Stowe Land Trust considered this and many other regional studies while identifying strategic conservation priorities.

Resources for conservation are almost always limited: land conservation, even donated easements, costs money, while the land base available for conservation is continually shrinking.   Most conservation organizations develop a strategic plan to focus their resources and identify the most important areas for conservation.  In 2015, Stowe Land Trust contracted with Native Geographic, LLC to help develop their strategic plan.  Native Geographic conducted analyses to prioritize working forests, farms, wildlife areas, and river corridors for conservation and to better understand how these conservation values can most efficiently be protected.

Cooley-Jericho Community Forest Natural Resource Inventory and Stewardship Plan

Almost 1,000 acres, four towns and one land trust:  the Cooley-Jericho Community Forest is like no other community forest in the northeast.  Working with over 20 regular stakeholders, town representatives, and citizen scientists, Native Geographic, LLC led a two year natural resource inventory and series of stakeholder and community planning meetings.   Native Geographic, LLC drafted and is now overseeing implementation of a plan to guide stewardship and development of the property's recreation, biodiversity, education, and timber resources for the next 30 years.
